The Company

Galaxy 12 is a film/video/animation production company, privately owned, based out of Alameda, CA. Our purpose is to create quality motion pictures that both entertain and educate.

Management and Organization

The partnership of Galaxy 12 consists of a husband and wife team, Kurt and Jill Nellis. Kurt and Jill Nellis have been working in the entertainment industry since 1998. They were both educated with a bachelor degree at the Rochester Institute of Technology in the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences for Film, Video, and Animation. The following people make up the current management team:

Kurt Nellis, Co-Owner and Executive Producer

Kurt Nellis received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Video from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1998. Kurt worked for several years in Boston, MA as an editor and multimedia programmer before returning to school. In May 2003, he graduated with his Masters of Fine Arts in Animation from the Rochester Institute of Technology. After school he headed out west to Northern California to work in the film industry. His first job was at ESC Entertainment as a layout animator for Matrix: Revolutions. He went on to work at Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) helping to develop their layout department for Star Wars: Episode III. Recently he just finished working on King Kong in New Zealand at Weta. In his spare time he continues to work on his own animations.

Jill Nellis, Co-Owner and Executive Producer

Jill Nellis spent two years at Smash Advertising in Boston, MA as an associate producer. There she produced projects for the Discovery Networks, The History Channel, and Country Music Television. These were all high-end projects designed to sell their programming to cable providers. She worked as the production manager on the independent feature, Little Erin Merryweather. She has since headed the production office of Rochester, New York's Electronic Field Productions. Even more notably she has been working as a producer for a documentary on Rochester's Wing Bowl Buffalo Wing eating contest. Her experience will reinforce the management of the company, negotiate with distributors, and organize the planning of future endeavors.
